British and Irish Lions: John Dalziel joins the coaching team

The Ireland coach Paul O’Connell – a former Lions captain and three times a tourist as a player – was widely expected to deal with the Lions package.

But with O’Connell out of the race, Farrell turned to Dalziel. The former Glasgow coach will share the duties forward with Fogarty, with Easterby who will probably manage the defense.

In Wigglesworth, responsibilities will be given around skills and attack since Farrell tries to draw on the best performances of the six nations of England in five years. England has an average of five championship attempts, compared to 2.7 in autumn.

Farrell will choose his game team on May 8, with the first Lions match against Argentina in Dublin on June 20.
