The Australian teams for tour games will be chosen thinking about Wallabies’s success

“What we said is that the Wallabies test games are our absolute priority, which we want to win,” said Horne.

“They enter the field … and then it is up to Joe (Schmidt), Okay, which team players should be available? We would do it individually based on that.

“And then we have an approach in which we want to make sure that our provincial games are competitive and we are publishing good quality teams.

“The same goes for those Aunz and also for the first Nations/Games Pasifika. So, if there are players who are in the Wallabies team, and we think it is in their interest to have game time, then they will be made available.

“If we carry 36, not everyone can play well? So there is flexibility.”

Horne said that Aunz’s team make -up would be a mix of local Australian players, some overseas Australians and Kiwi players based in Japan. Former All Blacks Ian Foster coach was recruited as assistant coach last weekAnd it is expected that more coaches will be appointed among the Australian Super Rugby teams.

Foster said last week that he anticipated rugby in Australia would have used the appointment to give time to the game to margile wallabies and instill experience in young Australians.

“They will look at the state of their team once the Wallabies are collected and then they will say: ‘Ok, well, let’s make sure these 10, 12, 13 players enter’, said Foster.

“But there is the possibility of putting some younger emerging Australian players with some older heads, perhaps some ex-tutti blacks and therefore perhaps try to find some older Wallaby heads.”
