Victoria’s suburban railway railway railway estimates were requested by the Nation’s peak infrastructure agency, but were not provided by the Victorian government, the Senate estimates have heard.

High officials of Infrastructure Australia on Thursday appeared in front of the rural and regional affairs committee of the Federal Parliament less than a week after issuing their evaluation of Srl East, an underground railway line proposal from Cheltenham to Box Hill to Melbourne.

This report claims to have a low trust in the current $ 34.5 billion in Srl East and recommended not to be provided further federal funding, beyond an electoral commitment of $ 2.2 billion.

Questioned by the spokesman for the transport of the Bridget McKenzie coalition, David Tucker Infrastructure Australia said he had not received costs estimates that had reflected the changes to the project since the price was determined for the first time in 2020.

“This is one of the elements of our evaluation that we have defined a risk, that the estimate of the costs is based on the estimate developed in 2020 and, therefore, does not reflect the work done in previous years,” he said.

Tucker said that since the project was announced, the contracts had been assigned and that they had been planning for the fences around the future stations they expected would have provided greater definitions and details on total costs.

“But we didn’t see it in the information presented to us,” he said. Infrastructure Australia has confirmed that he has requested this information but that he had not received it.

The officials claimed to have also asked for a more detailed evaluation on how the value, taxes and costs on lifting the price of the territory around the project would have worked to finance a third of Srl East as a forecast.

“The information we would like to see is exactly the division of those different mechanisms to reach the third of the project financing and when these mechanisms would have turned on,” Tucker said.

Victorian premier Jacinta Allan this week insisted that the project was punctual and with the budget and that his government would continue to provide information to the infrastructures in Australia.

He also said that the benefits of Srl East should not be evaluated by themselves and could only be seen together with the benefits of Srl North, a second phase not financed to which he has not yet been committed and plans to end in 2053.
