Club World Cup: the Premier League confirms the transfer window for the summer of 2025

Firstly, to bring order to the global registration system, the FIFA World Government body only allows the transfer window to each individual country to be opened for 16 weeks in any calendar year.

In Europe, the previous one imposes four of those weeks for the winter window, leaving 12 in summer. In 2024, the Premier League transfer window was opened on June 14 and closed on August 30th.

However, in October, FIFA approved an additional window from June 1-10 which would allow the 32 clubs in competition to the club world championships to record new players before the tournament.

He also agreed to open a recording window in the middle of the tournament, from June 27 and July 3, to allow clubs to record further players for the direct elimination phase.

In addition to Manchester City and Chelsea, European High Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Juventus, Paris St-Germain, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia are among others who play in the tournament.

In order to ensure that Manchester City and Chelsea did not have an advantage over the other 18 leading clubs, the Premier League has adopted the same window.

However, 12 weeks from June 1st are August 24th. The Premier League wanted to be aligned with the rest of the large European championships around when the summer window closes. Those championships preferred to close the window at the end of August, so this meant that the window had to close and reopen.
