Patrick Matasis: Kenya Keeper The theme of investigations on Match-Fixing

Kenya Football Federation (FKF) has launched an investigation into the accusations that goalkeeper Patrick Matasis was involved in the manipulation of matches.

The 37 -year -old, who plays for the premier league club Keniota Kakamega Homeboyz, has won over 30 international caps.

His most recent appearance for Harambee’s stars came in October last year, in a qualification for the Africa Nations Cup of 2025.

An untreated video published online – that the BBC has not been able to verify – seems to show matasi to accept an agreement to influence the result of a championship match.

“I spoke to him. He was also shocked by what he was seeing in the video and he told me he doesn’t know he did a match-Fixing,” said the owner at Homeboyz Cleophas Shimanyula a BBC Sport Africa.

The FKF declared that he would work with the FIFA World Government organ, the Confederation of African football and other “relevant authorities” during his investigations.

“We reiterate our zero tolerance policy on the manipulation of games and we commit ourselves to safeguard the credibility of our competitions,” added a note.

“This survey will join the FKF anti-match handling regulations and FIFA guidelines, guaranteeing a fair, transparent and in-depth process.

“The rights of the player and his club will be respected and the appropriate actions will be undertaken according to the results”.

BBC Sport Africa contacted skeins for a comment.
