Search four US soldiers missing a recovery mission now, the officials say

The search for four soldiers of the American army disappeared during a training exercise in Lithuania was reclassified by a rescue at a recovery mission, according to officials.

The Minister of Defense of Lithuania Dovile Sakaliene revealed the news on Thursday, which was subsequently confirmed in a press release from the army.

“The research and recovery efforts by us and Lithuanian staff continued without a break,” said the press release.

It comes after the M88 Hercules Blinded Recovery Vehicle, which men were operating at the time of their disappearance, was found immersed in water in a training area on Wednesday.

The soldiers disappeared from the early hours of Tuesday while leading a maintenance mission to recover another vehicle from the American army in the training area.

The initial research effort through forests and swampy ground has involved parts of research on hundreds of US soldiers and law enforcement agencies and Lithuanian, Lithuanian military helicopters and diving teams.

“We are taking advantage of any available and Lithuanian activity to coordinate and provide the resources required for this effort,” said the American Army General Curtis Taylor. “We are incredibly grateful for the dedicated and professional efforts of our Lithuanian allies in guaranteeing the safety of US staff.

“They have worked tirelessly alongside us in the last 48 hours and continue to be grateful for their support.”
