Yared Nuguse: 1500m Olympic medal that chase the gold before returning to the dental school

Nuguse Beat the sample in charge in Inscriggen e Finished within 0.15 seconds of gold in a dramatic final in Paris, in which Cole Hocker has put the British world champion Kerr passed to win in a record time Olympic.

The current maximum weights of the event represent four of the nine fastest men in the story in the distance, but Nuguse is the only one who has not yet put his hands on the gold.

He believes that the world championships this year in Tokyo will provide his moment as a crown.

“You are really happy and proud of yourself but, at the same time, you are still wishing more,” says Nuguse, who beat the world record of Mile Indoor in February just to see Ingebriggen beat him five days later.

“I know I can win these races, I was right there with them. It is just a matter of literally making the last 1%, or 0.1%.

“I seem to be my moment. I can taste it, I’m so close.”

Before aiming at his first global title in September, Nuguse will compete in the inaugural season of Michael Johnson’s Grand Slam Track, who starts in Kingston, Jamaica, Friday.

As a contract runner, he will take sides against the other Olympic medals Hocker and Kerr over 800m and 1500m with four “Slam”, with a total pot of $ 12.6 million (£ 10 million) for athletes, as well as a basic salary.

However, Johnson’s controversial decision to exclude field events from the competition has been criticized.

“I am very excited. Something really beautiful and really fun promises to be,” says Nuguse.

“The track does not really have this Pinnacle League like many other sports and is largely because our sport is so different from many traditional sports.

“It would be nice that track athletes are treated as athletes in other professional sports, especially at the highest levels.

“I think it is certainly a good chance of doing something that could last and promote more than one professional alloy. I am very interested in seeing how it was received but (Johnson) seems to do everything in the right way.”
