Nicholas Kerton: Cricket Canada monitoring the captain’s arrest

Cricket Canada says that he is actively monitoring “the situation after Captain Nicholas Kirton was arrested in the Caribbean.
Local relationships say that the 26 -year -old was arrested at Barbados airport on Sunday with potential drug charges.
“We are actively monitoring the situation and following the developments closely while taking place,” said Cricket Canada in a note.
“We take the question seriously and remain firm in supporting the highest standards of integrity and responsibility within sport”.
The BBC Sport contacted the Barbados police for a comment.
Kirton was born in Barbados but is suitable for playing for Canada through his mother.
He represented under 19 of the western Indies before emigrating to Canada, making his international debut in a T20 match against Oman in 2019.
The Allerounder in the batting, who played 21 international and 28 T20i international, was appointed captain in July 2024.
Canada is preparing for the inaugural North American Cup – also with Cayman, Bahamas, Bermuda and the United States – which starts in the Cayman islands on April 18.
