Like a 24 -year -old rookie of Cigni has gone from hole excavation to a leading role
Bice grew up as a fan of Swans and was interviewed by the club before the draft. Chris Keane, the head of the cigni list strategy has not been disturbed by his age or by the lack of experience at the highest levels. The Swans had a rich story of giving the older players a chance, including the legend of the club Brett Kirk and the former Danish ramp captain. Keane knew that Bice’s positive side was significant.
“We didn’t go to think that it is a player of mature age, we did not approach this because it is actually quite physically immature.
“He never did a pre-installation, he never had a base in the gym or did a lot of work in the gym.
“So, while he was 24 years old, he actually felt as if there was still a level of development within him, so also that he appealed to us. But clearly what he could do on the field was really strong, and this is the main reason (the swans enrolled it)”.
Bice had seen the draft nervously with his mother at home in Albury, trembling when her name was read by the swans. The celebrations of realizing a childhood dream against the chances were deactivated by the reality of having to get them more.
Fortunately, Bice’s integration against the Swans took place quickly. An early dinner invitation to the Dean Cox house helped, as he had with Harry Cunningham and building a friendship with Justin Mcinerney. On the training field, Bice’s Foundation in Werribee has provided a strong platform.

Bice’s debut for the Swans against the Premiers Brisbane who wore the number of Luke Parker, the number of Luke Parker, provided the promise, but his second game in the victory last Sunday against Fremantle brought the excitement. Bice marked an extraordinary goal in Perth and was a fundamental part of the Cigni victory.
Bice knows that despite his promising start, they are the first days in a long and ruthless AFL season. The defender is happy to give other older players throughout Australia, hope that making the level higher is still possible, but now his attention is only to maintain his place in the team of the Swans day.
