“Food Babe” Vani Hari: the Maha movement matters. Do not deride our health and safety

I could not believe my ears when I heard my friend and colleague Calley Means, co-founder of Truemed and adviser to the secretary of health and human services Robert Kennedy, being whistled, laughed and shouted at the top of the politician’s healthcare this week.
Apparently, that room full of health lobbyists and partisan critics did not want to listen to the truth: American health policy in its current form is an absolute and total failure. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the largest health bureaucracy in the world, needs a review and must take place quickly.
The repercussions he met on Wednesday came only 24 hours after HHS began to fire 10,000 federal employees, including officials rooted by agencies such as the FDA, Nih and CMS, who presided over an extraordinary collapse of American health.
Callley means on the effort to reform American health care
Shortly after the announcement of the secretary Kennedy of the renovation, the former commissioner of the FDA Dr. Robert Califf has gone to his LinkedIn page and said “La Fda as we learned that it ended”.
Thanks to the sky it is over.
Decades of ineffectiveness have allowed our food and chemical companies to flood our food system with new chemicals without supervision of third parties or necessary safety studies.
Decades of obsolete regulatory actions have allowed American companies that poisoned us with the ingredients they do not use in other countries – such as artificial food coloring connected to hyperactivity in children and Cancer in animal studies.
Decades of scarce nutritional standards have allowed childhood formulas with the first ingredient – “Solids from corn syrup” – a form of refined sugar added – to be administered to babies.
If our health authorities worked, we would not be the sick country developed on earth. We would not have explosions of obesity rates, infertility and depression. The facts speak stronger than the whistles.
We need a total review on how our regulation bodies work. We have to replace the old thought. We need a new staff who are not full of conflicts of interest. We need gold star sciences that will come to the main cause of the reason we are in this situation and how to solve it.
Our government has failed to miserate human health miserably and there are countless examples – but now with the president Donald Trump And the bold vision of secretary Kennedy to reverse chronic disease, we have a turning point in history that we have never had before.
What Calley said at the top was not complicated: the people who contributed to creating this crisis should not be the ones who manage the answer. Yet when he stressed that America has “the most sick children in the developed world” – and that laughing from the reform in front of that reality is shameful – the room has become hostile.
He argued that secretary Kennedy is doing exactly what the voters- in particular Maha’s mothers as me- asked: to remove rooted bureaucrats who have labeled independent experts such as charlatans, punished dissent and have faded the rates of chronic impaired diseases- ignoring the fact that food is medicine. Doing otherwise, as Calley said, is “to say to the maha mothers that their votes and voices are not legitimate”.
People voted for change. Not for small changes – for structural interruption. And that’s why Maha’s mothers have finished being mocked. I understand indignation. But I also understand what’s at stake.
If our health authorities worked, we would not be the sick country developed on earth. We would not have Obesity rates will explodeinfertility and depression. The facts speak stronger than the whistles.
More widespread obesity in these 3 cities of the south
And it is clear: this is not the first time that the reform has uncomfortable the elite. Calley is a warrior as I had never seen before. It is doing what the real reformers always do, facing the institutions that protect themselves at all costs. And has an army of Maha moms Behind him.

I am one of them. As a longtime food activist and founder of the food movement, I spent over a decade challenging the same health factory now reformed. I talked directly with maha mothers inside and out White house Driving this effort: the women who saw their children suffer from chronic diseases, just to be illuminated by the same agencies understood to protect them.

These are not marginal voices. They are citizens who ask for responsibilities, transparency and a return to common sense in public health. I am proud to be with them.
I traveled throughout the country with Calley, in a basic effort to solve what the food industry has done to us – testifying in various states that are trying to reform antiquated policies that allow harmful chemicals in our food and maintain the Americans sick.

This moment does not concern the perspective. These are results: if American children are healthier in five years. If families feel seen and served by public health institutionS. If the government finally starts priority to prevention with respect to pharmaceutical profits.
Calley should not apologize for giving priority to American health on bureaucratic ego. It should not take back because the insiders are uncomfortable. It is part of a team building a slimmer, more transparent and respectable HHS. And whether to say that truth makes it again whistled, I have the feeling that it will take the microphone every time.
