Agreed settlement in cases of sexual abuse of the Celtic Boys Club

Lawyers say that more than 20 legal claims of historical abuse at the Celtic Boys Club have been established for a seven -digit sum.
About 30 former players had launched a class action against Celtic Plc for damage.
Thompsons’ lawyers said that 70% of these cases had been resolved and that further settlements are planned in the coming weeks.
Celtic had indicated last year that he was trying to solve cases.
Several former coaches and officials of the Boys Club have been sentenced in recent years of sexual crimes against teenage players who embrace decades.
In 2023, a judge gave a group “class” group dispute in US style to proceed against Celtic for alleged abuses at the Celtic Boys Club.
The Boys Club was established as a feeding team in the part of Celtic Senior in 1966 and the two clubs had tight ties, sharing players, officials and clubs.
Celtic had always insisted on the fact that he was not responsible because the Boys Club was “a completely different organization”.
But the lawyers who act for the former players claimed that the Boys Club and Celtic were “intimately connected” and the Senior Club was “responsible in a vicar” for the assaults made.
The dispute refers to the historical statements of sexual aggression by the condemned pedophiles Jim Torbett – the founder of the Boys Club – and Frank Cairney, a former coach.
Laura Connor, by Thompsons Solicitors, said that the customers of the company wanted to listen to their voices.
“This dispute was made much more complex and long by the defender, while our customers acted with resolute dignity in everything,” he said.
“In the end they achieved success and can take this compensation as confirms that the Celtic Boys Club was actually inextricably linked to the Celtic Football Club.”
