Alex Ovechkin binds the record of all time of Wayne Gretzky of 894 NHL goals
The Russian player of Alex Ovechkin ice hockey became the marker of all times the highest time of the National Hockey League after having accumulated his 894th goal in his career.
The Washington Capitals star is now linked to the Canadian Hall of Fame Wayne Gretzky, whose record a decllusive time has remained for 26 years.
Ovechkin, 39 years old, brought home the album with a power of power in the third quarter to give capital an advantage of 4-3 on the Chicago Blackhawks.
He was attacked by teammates when he beat the record on Friday evening with what his second goal of the game was.
The Ovechkin feat is all the more remarkable since its season has been interrupted for a few weeks when it broke a leg in November.
“It means a lot,” said Ovechkin in an interview immediately after Friday, thanking the fans and his family.
“At this moment it is so emotional. You have never thought, as, you can reach that goal.”
Gretzky, who was among the crowd of the capital One Arena to see his shattered record, also designed applause from the crowd.
On Sunday, Ovechkin will have the opportunity to become the highest scorer ever when Caps play the islanders of New York.
