Because Zac Lloyd would be a very special winner of Nathan Berry’s medal

“I think he has a good one in practically all four of group 1, so he is perhaps in the best position to do it, and it would be fantastic if Zac did it,” said Berry.

“I remember that Nathan brought Zac around when he was a child wearing glasses, and has very affectionate memories of Nathan. So if Zac wins it, it would be very special for our family and I know that Nathan would look at the smile.”
Lloyd, the two -time champion of Sydney Apprentice, has Linebacker ($ 7, Doncaster), King of Thunder ($ 13, ATC Derby), Wheadwall ($ 27, TJ Smith Stakes) and Navy Pilot ($ 71, Sires produce stakes) in group 1S.
“I have good rides this week,” he said. “I hope to be able to face me because I will need an advantage over the last day. It seems that I don’t have an excellent book for the second day.
“But if I can face me, maybe I can ride a couple or three winners and a couple of dishes, it will be fine.”
John O’Shea and Tom Charlton, King of Thunder, did the house for a third near Tulloch Stakes (2000m) Tuesday and has Gate One in the $ 2 million derby (2400m).
“It was perfect for him,” said Lloyd of Tuesday’s race. “He had a good barrier test, it can be said, and almost won, so I think that returning to a good surface will help him.

“I don’t think he really managed the wet track on Tuesday, so for him approaching was a good effort, so excited for him. And the lineback, is missing in the air. His trust has increased. A good barrier for him.”
The StableMate Linebacker, the winner of Randwick Guineas, has only 49 kg in the Doncaster.

“I have no problems,” said Lloyd of weight fall. “But it is certainly about keeping an eye on it. Do not eat a lot and be quite disciplined in the last two weeks. I walk, for normal races, about 52.
“Navy Pilot, it’s a long shot, but it’s a very nice cultured. It will probably be out of his championship, but in the future it will be a nice horse.
“The Dhedwall is going very well. It was beaten for Joliestar last time in Newmarket, so I think it probably is above the chances. It is in excellent shape, and has a foot shift that can win a group 1. It only needs everything to go well.”
