Brett Hampton: Hampshire All-Round signs to replace Jack Edwards


The Hampshire drafted in the New Zett Hampton for the first two months of the County Championship season after the handyman Jack Edwards was excluded for injury.

The Australian Edwards had been signed as one of the overseas players of the County, but suffered a knee injury playing for the new South Wales in the Shield of Sheffield and faces a minimum recovery period of six weeks.

He will be replaced by 33 -year -old Hampton, a Middle Passer Pastella and a medium good Seamer who has played first -class cricket for northern districts in the last ten years.

In this season’s Plunket Shield, Hampon has scored 581 races and taken 23 wickets, with its first class overall averages standing at 30.66 and 27.70 respectively with Mazza and Ball.
