Cain Velasquez: the former UFC maximum weight champion receives a five -year prison sentence for attempted murder

The defense lawyer Renee Hessling defined the “sweet and sour” sentence as he had hoped to avoid a prison sentence for Velasquez.
Velasquez has been under home arrest since November and has received 1,283 days of time discounted, reducing his sentence.
“In all this, Cain has shown courage and strength of character,” said Hessling in a declaration.
“He took responsibility for his actions and was held responsible. The sentence issued today reflects the complexities of the situation and recognizes the man behind the titles”.
In a recent interview on Kyle Kingsbury’s podcast, Velasquez accepted responsibility for his actions.
“We cannot put the law in our hands, I know what I did and I know what I did was very dangerous for other people,” he said.
“Not only people involved, but innocent people. I understand what I have done and I am willing to do everything I have to (do) to refund him.”
Velasquez wounded Paul Beder during filming during a 11 -mile cars, where he shot a gun several times.
Velasquez fought 15 times in the UFC, winning the title of the heavyweights twice with victories on Brock Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos.
The native of California retired after a defeat of direct elimination of Francis Ngannou in 2019, with a record of 14 wins and three losses.
