Charlie Dean: England Captainly Link is “one of the greatest compliments”

Dean, who made his debut in England in 2021, said he is trying to avoid the “external noise” regarding the captain while preparing for his first season with Somerset as part of the new women’s domestic system, which sees eight counties aligned with the first class teams of men.
He added that the month in Australia was “brutal” but it can’t wait for the beginning of a new era to arrive.
The disappointment in Australia has transcended the results of England, with the attitude and image of the team questioned.
Knight and Lewis were repeatedly criticized for saying that the team was close to beating Australia, Lewis made news for his comments that stated that the Australian climate contributed to their superior athleticism and Sophie Ecclestone, the best bowler in the world, refused an interview with the former teammate Hartley.
Dean recognized the criticisms, adding that the players will learn from the greater attention that the series has attracted.
“We are proud to make sure to always do things in the right way, but there were some pitfalls out there,” he said.
“We certainly learned how we present ourselves. I do not doubt that we all give everything absolutely when we are on the field, so the fact that we have not been perceived in that way is disappointing.
“We know that the eyes are on us, and this is a great thing. We want to do better for people who look and for our fans.”
