Cricket Australia shares the objections to the New Macquarie Point Stadium Design

The new stadium on the promenade proposed by Tasmania, which is a condition of entry of its team into the FL, has affected an important obstacle since the cricket authorities say that their sport cannot be practiced there due to design problems.

Cricket Australia and Cricket Tasmania have written to the government of Tasmania, declaring that the 23,000 Macquarie Point stadium must have its redesigned roof or be completely removed due to the impact of the shadows on the central Wicket launched by the roof support structure.

In the letter, co-founded by the Costralia Cricket Administrator recently deceased Nick Hockley and Cricket Tasminia Dominic Baker, “significant concerns” were raised on “The impact of the shadows launched by the roof structure on the playing field, in particular on the block of the cricket throughout the day, and in the end the implications for the forms of cricket may not be supported”.

“Although we appreciate the recent efforts of the project team to explore the mitigation options for shadows, we are of the opinion that they are or not achievable, as they do not eliminate shadows or that are temporary nature, introducing potential significant problems relating to the game conditions, location operations and the quality of the transmission”, the letter is recited.

A spokesman for the cricket Australia said on Wednesday that the government organ was “in constant dialogue with the government of Tasmania on the design for the Macquarie Point stadium”.

“We want to ensure that the stadium is suitable for the purpose of all forms of cricket so that we can bring the best international and domestic cricket to the stadium and maximize the benefits for all Tasmanians.”

The letter, obtained from the ABC in Tasmania, says Cricket Tasmania and Cricket Australia “remain engaged and support the stadium project and want to see him progress”.

Drop-in pitches and the growth of the grassy carpet have been listed as main problems related to the design of the cricket.
