Darcey Harry: Welsh golfist who aims to reach the LPGA tour with style

Harry’s first Harry event, in Morocco in February, saw her lose the cut.
Yet his second start, at Australian Women’s Classic last month, began with a round of 64 and ended in a sixth place, with Harry in Sunday’s final group.
“I don’t think I have ever played in front of a big crowd before,” he says.
“But I loved every moment. I played with some players who have been on tour for over 10 years. It was nice to look at them, see how they do it and learn from them.”
There has been other good news the week following the NSW Open Women’s NSW, also in Australia, where Harry closed in 14th place.
After a week of returning home to Wales – which included a ride on Larry – Harry returns to action at South African Women’s Open on Thursday.
Then comes a trip to South Korea before a series of summer events in Europe.
The greatest of these is in its courtyard, with Porthcawl hosting The Women’s Open – the largest female sporting event ever staged in Wales – from 31 July.
To set what would be a great debut, Harry will probably have to get through qualifying.
“The crossed fingers,” he adds.
“I know the course inside outside. I know every patch of rough, this is certain!
“There will be huge crazy. I think my golf thrives from the crowd and it would be incredible to have many friends and family who go out to look if I qualified for me.”
