Dean Lewington: Mk Dons Legend will retire to the club after 22 years
Dean Lewington, holder of Mk Dons’s record, stop playing for the club at the end of the season.
The left back has made 915 appearances for the club for 22 years, Responsible for John Trollope’s 40 -year record For most of the championship appearances for a single club in the EFL in 2023.
The 40-year-old, son of the former deputy director of England Ray, won the promotion three times with the dons, as well as winning a double championship and cup in 2007-08.
It hasn’t been playing since November, becoming a temporary boss three times. The club says that it now wants to move to coaching permanently.
Lewington played for the club for so long that he made his debut for Wimbledon in 2003, before moving to Milton Keynes.
Since then it has been a normal to the Donds teams, starting from 779 of its 789 league appearances for the club.
As a longest player of Mk Dons, Lewington was involved in many of the most remarkable moments of the club, beating Grimsby Town to win the EFL Trophy in Wembley in 2008, beating Manchester United 4-0 in the League Cup in 2014 and winning the promotion to the championship in 2015.
