Maybe you are like me, starting to feel old. Or you are already old. Or you are, for most sizes, young, but aging.

These phases of life are the only inevitability that we all have in common, right? Until death, at least.

Fred couples I started feeling old more than 20 years ago. He had difficulties with it. In 2002, the 14 times winner of the PGA Tour had passed for four years without a victory and was rarely in the run. He felt as if the game had run from him.

The young people were too good, too strong. He looked around and saw Tiger Woods and Ernie Els and did not recognize sport.

The couples wrote all this in a March 2002 number of Sports Illustrated. In a forgotten chapter of the history of golf, he was a frontal supporter for a possible new entity known as Majors Tour. The company – what could be called a * lifts the eyebrows * Breakaway League – had the purpose of offering a platform for prominent players in the superficial swamp between their main game and their admissibility to the Senior tour.

At the time, guys like couples, Nick Faldo and Greg Norman were still out to play a regular program but feel embarrassed borderline.

When I asked the couples after his round if he worried about being an inspiration for people of a certain age, he dodged the question, he made a joke and said, once again, he only wanted to have a better day out there.

But he said, yes, he knows from 30 to 70, all the people who walk here want to relate to him.

The intelligent ones do it.
