EV Resources snaps up Utah antimony claims with 12.7Mt resource



The area of ​​the Coyote Creek project has been evaluated for the first time for its antimony potential as part of a program to guarantee supplies for the armament industry during the Second World War. The work on the historic field, including the sampling of the trench, was undertaken in November 1941 and February 1942.

Antimony is said to have been discovered on the site in the early 1880s by Indian Tribes, who believed that he was used by lead in the production of bullets.

The deposits were worked intermittently until the 1920s, during better prices periods. The old registers reveal that the initial production came from “float” erosinte rich in antimony – drift of the rock and glacier on the surface – and subsequently from small mechanisms in the cliff faces. A mill was created on the spot around 1907.

A 1949 United States mines report noted that small deposits and mechanisms were scattered in an area that crossed 4.8 km east of 3.2 km north-south. The mechanisms chased veins, lenses and bleb in the shape of an irregular crisis, mainly in the cliffs of sandstone and unwary unwanted.

Management states that the mineralization of antimony is located within the formation of Flagstaff formed in the late age of the Paleocene about 56-66 million years ago.

Most of the mineralization of the high -grade antimity occurs as horizontal, oriches and cods above the lower sandstone/shale unit within the more massive sandstone of the formation of Flagstaff.

The areas of mineral vary in the thickness of about 1.5 but 11 me mainly include in stabnite or antimony sulphide, accompanied by small quantities of Valentinitis or antimony oxide.

The sampling included 96 hand digged trenches on average 0.75 m up to 40 me 0.75 m depth.

The trenches were arranged vertically along the exposures of the cliff through the sandstone horizon and where mineralization was observed in the underground mechanisms. The samples were taken from areas with visible mineralization.

The program guaranteed 541 samples, including 11 block exhaust samples, consisting of 10-15 cm wide grooves that represent 1.52 m of vertical section on the bed. The subsequent estimate of the resources by the Bureau in 1975 produced a resource not compliant with 12.7 million tons at 0.79 % antimony.

The United States were classified as the most significant importer of antimony globally. Most of the country’s imports were from India, Thailand, Oman, the United Kingdom and Vietnam for a total of US $ 60.35 million.

Last December, in an exchange of Tit-Per-Tat, China announced an immediate prohibition of exports of critical minerals in the United States, including Antimithe, Gallio and Germanio, citing national security problems.

In January of this year, the exports of US antimitresses represented up to $ 4.22 million while imports represented up to $ 8.94 million, resulting in a negative commercial balance of $ 4.73 million.

EV resources will now undertake initial and desktop assessments in Coyote Creek to verify the estimate of historical resources to establish the basic line of the company for mining resources. The works will begin after it guarantees the authorizations relevant by the Bureau of Land Management and the United States forestry service.

The work program aims to start this year and will include a detailed survey and therefore a trench campaign and channel sampling.
