Fiji Drua boss slams on Super Rugby Women Travel Squeeze

“Come on, this is a final. They said:” There are your three nights. “I said:” Wait, do we want on Saturday, so we only have 24 hours in the city before playing? “I’m sure it was previously done, but that’s not how you want to prepare for the final football.

“Hiding behind the word maximum is dishonest to the extreme.

“If we win, our preparation is totally compromised. We would return to Sydney (Thursday) and we will play the Waratahs or the strength, and I doubt that they will have been on two international flights within five days of the game.

“I don’t think it’s fair.”

Evans’ comments come after the Figi Drua men’s team He recently complained with the Super Rugby Pacific Information on a series of travel accidents during a trip to New Zealand, which included players who jumped on a luggage truck from the airport to a hotel due to a missing bus.

The female teams of Super Rugby traveling in the way of scrolling in the game are not rare and sides flew to Figi and Perth the day before a game in recent years.

The general manager of RA of women’s rugby Jilly Collins replied in a declaration: “The travel agreements for Fijian Drua are aligned with the guidelines for the competition and consistent with the previous ones established by all the travel teams in the female competition of Super Rugby.

“Rugby Australia believes that the arrival of the drua in Brisbane the morning before the game is sufficient both from the logistical perspective and at high performance.

“The day after the game there were no return flights available and consequently Rugby Australia offered to meet the team’s additional recovery and preparation needs and preparation during their period in Brisbane.”

Evans believes that the garments of the Super Rugby Pacific have managed the male travel complaint well and said there are many in the Australian and New Zealand rugby that have contributed significantly to the creation – and to the growth – of the male programs and women of the drua. He paid credit to Collins’ work and now the chief of the high performance Peter Horne, in his former work at World Rugby.

Drua are also financed in part by the Pacificous Sport Partnership, through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Commerce, which provides $ 650,000 per year, and the men’s team played for the first time when it was invited to the RA’s third level competition, the National Rugby Championship, in 2017.

RA officials are dismayed privately for Evans’ criticisms, given the support of the organization to the Figi for many years.

However, Evans, a former CEO of Melbourne Storm, said that the international travel burden of Drua is not fully appreciated.

“Rugby Australia says that other teams arrived the day before. Yes, but they come from Canberra or Brisbane – it’s not the same,” said Evans.

“If we win on the weekend, there will be four (Super W) big endings in a row, so we bring a lot to the competition. We had 11,000 people who looked at a super W game last year. It is not as if we did not add value.

“I don’t feel there is always quite flexibility. We are not an hour along the way.

“I just think that various parties interested in the competition must simply be more aware and flexible than the different situation in which we are largely through geography. We are not melbourne that comes to Sydney, where there are 30 flights a day. If you lose the flight to Nadi on Monday because it is too late, we cannot go home.

“It is called emergency planning. I am perplexed and irritated by everything. But in the end, we will have to go on Saturday, and we will do it our best shot and we will try to win, and then make a ridiculously compromised preparation (for a great final).”
