Former NHL goalkeeper, the Greg Millen hockey broadcaster at 67
The former NHL goalkeeper and the longtime Greg Millen hockey broadcaster died at 67.
The NHL Alumni Association announced its death on Monday but did not provide a cause.
Millen has spent 14 years in the NHL since 1978-92, playing for the Pietsburgh Penguins, Hartford Whalers, St. Louis Blues, Quebec Nordiques, Chicago and the red wings of Detroit.
Toronto’s native was a choice of the sixth round (102a in total) in the 1977 NHL draft by the Penguins. Millen played in 604 career games, making 582 departures and recording an average of 3.88 goals and a percentage of savings .873.
“Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with Greg’s family at this very difficult moment,” said the NHL Alumni Association in a state declaration, previously known as Twitter.

“We are saddened by the loss of the former goalkeeper Blues Greg Millen, who proudly wore the note from 1985 to 90. Our thoughts are with the whole family, friends and fans of all millen,” said St. Louis Blues in a statement on X.
He immediately went to convey following the conclusion of his career, covering the senators of Ottawa during their inaugural season in 1992-93.
“The senators of Ottawa were deeply saddened in hearing the disappearance of Greg Millen, the first TV commentator.
Millen was also part of the CBC hockey night in Canada and the NHL on Sportsnet. Overall, he covered three Olympic matches, two hockey world cups, 12 Stanley Cup finals and 12 All-Star Nhl games.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Greg Millen after his death today. After his career of 14 NHL seasons, Greg went to convey and we were so lucky to have him as part of our Sportsnet Flames family. Rest in peace, Milsy,” said Calgary Flames in a note on X.
In a declaration that transmits its condolences on X, Sportsnet has defined Millen a “voice of trust and familiar in the homes of millions of Canadians for more than 30 years”.
“It is with the heavy hearts that we at Sportsnet we cry the disappearance of Greg Millen, a figure loved in our hockey community and a dear member of our NHL in the Sportsnet team. While both a player and an issuer, Greg has left an indelible mark on sport, as well as all those who have had the pleasure of knowing him, watching him and listening to him.”
