Gary Stead: New Zealand coach to resign from heard and T20 roles

Gary Stead will resign as a limited coach of New Zealand this summer – and is taking into consideration his responsible position of the test team.
Stead, 53, held five tests for the Black Caps in 1999 before moving to coaching, taking charge of the women’s team of his country in 2008 and then the men’s team in 2018.
In the international format of one day, he brought New Zealand to the World Cup final in 2019 where England won notoriously after a Super from Lord’s.
The Stead, born in Christchurch, also led the kiwis to the finals of the T20 World Cup in 2021 and the Champions Trophy this year, as well as winning the inaugural test world championship in 2021.
The side has just completed a series of limited pavilions against Pakistan, With the New Zealand who wins both the hatred and t20 legs.
“I can’t wait to get away from the life on tour for a while and to think about my future,” Spead said in a statement issued by the cricket of New Zealand.
“Now I want to evaluate my options, but I still feel that I have left coaching in me, even if not as head coach in all formats.
“The following month will give me the opportunity to discuss the situation with my wife, my family and others more.
“I will be in a better position to find out if I want to reapply the trial coaching position after this period of reflection.”
