Greenberg warns Scg needs updating while Brisbane promised the first test after the Olympics

Ca and Queensland Cricket have put pressure on a new stadium and were electrified by Tuesday’s announcement, despite reporting the end of Gabba, who hosted many memorable games.
“The cricket is incorporated into the Queensland DNA and the decision to build a world -class stadium in Victoria Park guarantees that it has a future in this state,” Crisafulli said on Wednesday.

“Test cricket belongs to Queensland, and this decision means that fans will not lose some of the best cricket teams playing test games in Brisbane until the summer before Brisbane 2032, where we regain our title as a guest of the first summer test.”
The only problem that could arise for Brisbane is if Australia hosts only four tests in summer, as will do in the 2026-27 season against New Zealand.
With Melbourne and Sydney tests for the cricket’s summer staples, Adelaide or Perth – both with updated structures – they could lose a test. However, five or more tests are likely to be performed every summer from 2027-28 onwards.
“It’s a huge impulse,” said Greenberg, the new CEO of Ca, Wednesday Sen Radio. “Basically cement the cricket for the next generation internationally for Queenslander.

“The decision gives us a real certainty on places and programming, which in turn allows us to guarantee that the best Brisbane the best (e) plus international and domestic cricket games.
“I hope that if I had a crystal sphere, we would play the gold medal game at the 2032 Olympics at Gabba, and we could say goodbye to a gold medal there and then turn around and open the summer with a trial match at the brand new stadium. It seems a rather nice way to launch a new stadium, don’t you do it?”
Greenberg, a former member of the Board of Directors of the NSW, who supervises the main sports facilities of the state, including the Scg, states that Sydney’s cricket headquarters requires updates.

“Incredibly, what we will probably see now is that the Scg will desperately have a little attention because it will fall far behind some of these other iconic stadiums throughout the country,” said Greenberg in Sen.
“Some of these stands are extremely old and tired (at the Scg). The people who manage the offices of the new South and the Scg Welm know it. We have helped them strongly to support further funding.
“Nobody loves the Scg more than me. I was born and raised in Sydney, so I spent a lot of time there, but this is what happens in modern sport; investments go to the stadiums and creates a new point of reference. The new stadium in Brisbane will do so.
“We have to continue lifting the bar across the country.”
