To support customers affected by recent bad weather, IAG, whose brands include Nrma Insurance, CGUs, WFI and Rollin ‘, collaborated with Ottus to process the new portable Starlink terminals, providing satellite internet to the vehicles of the insurer visited by customers, in both metropolitan and rural areas that were missing essential services.

“Starlink micro terminals are a turning point for us, allowing our evaluators to develop relationships on damage to real -time property, stay in touch and bring our furniture complaint centers to offices in communities where customers need our help to get back on their feet,” said Lindsay.

“It is essentially a solution that has the size of a briefcase, so it is easy to throw the boot and drive, and it is robust enough to resist the elements,” said Marcus Grimes, vice -president of the product, company and business at Ottus.

“Connectivity is powered through a Wireless Wanless solution that changes seamlessly between 4G, 5G and satellite networks, offering intelligent connectivity and network agnosticism. The solution allows IAG teams on the field to make voice calls on WiFi and file reports on The Go means that they can respond faster,” said Grimes.

IAG deployed satellite internet to its vehicle fleet during the weeks following Alfred’s landing. The technology has also been established in the furniture pop-up centers in the South-East of Queensland and Tweed Heads in the New South Wales, located in the Bunings carpaci. These mobile sites have provided hundreds of customers, internet access, charging structures and assistance with insurance complaints for accommodation.
