A calm day, then a bestial storm
From the sheltered beach of Sanur, it seemed like a calm day, says Josie. The weather was cloudy, but not windy. This has changed during the morning.

Ngurah Komang, a leader of the Boat tour that was in the same stretch of water with a group several hours after the Sea Dragon 2, captured a bestial storm that hit a not too distant ocean stain.
The cloud that has filmed has joined the sky and the sea in a single mass similar to a mushroom. “This is a natural phenomenon,” said Ngurah in the video. “A rare event.”
He changed the itinerary of the day to avoid time.

The Americans do not remember a safety briefing, just a few words of the crew or guides on where they were going and what they would see. And the engine was so strong, they say, that they could barely distinguish a word.
The Australian security coach of Marina Adam Sontag, who reviewed Filmati, said that the first red flag was that nobody seemed to wear a rescue jacket. Except for a person: a seven -year -old Estonian girl. His mother claims to have asked the crew for a lifestyle five times before finding it.
Some passengers asked the crew to slow down. Holly, more and more worried, moved from the seat next to Josie to be closer to the captain, where he assumed that he was safer.
Depending on the account, the wave hit about 15-30 minutes on the journey to Nusa Penida.
“In a sense, we heard that the boat made the business sucked into that really large wave, and the wave itself was probably larger than the boat, if not double the boat when we were the base of it,” says Josie.
“I have never had such a great wave of wave on the top of such a boat.”
It is not clear whether it was a rogue wave or one in a scheme. The meteorological warning for Nusa Penida that day was yellow, indicating waves from 1.25 to 2.5 meters. The higher end of this range can be enough to bring expert fishermen back to shore.
“From what I can see, the ship was traveling beam (side) to the waves is an extremely dangerous position and a common cause of overturning in heavy seas,” says Sontag. “In front of large waves … the safest way is generally to transform the arch into the wave to avoid being rolled.”

Josie remembers approaching the boat, holding his breath and waiting.
“When I heard the boat completely upside down, I saw dark blue and blue,” he says. “I waited for the boat to deposit, and then I just swam towards light blue.
Others, including Holly, were trapped under the boat, the limited air available with foul foul.
“I was from the (Australian couple Gabe and Tam), who was seriously burned,” says Holly. “I was in panic and said:” We have to swim out, or we will lose oxygen. “I really felt, really the dizziness, so thank God I was from him.

“This is the only reason why I knew how to swim out of under the boat … because you can’t think straight.”
Unknown to Holly, Anna Blight and the Even the Estonian girl was under the boat. Later in the hospital, the child complained about Blight’s death to his mother: “I keep seeing the lady who died. I should have been able to save her. I should have been able to save the lady who died”.
The investigation
This masthead spoke with five of the 10 surviving passengers. At the time of writing, investigators hadn’t talked to anyone. Since then some passengers have returned to their countries of origin.
The police interviewed the captain and the crew and maintain the engine of the Sea Dragon 2 was eliminated by a floating trunk, leaving the ship impotent and vulnerable to the waves.

The video tells a different story. Josie confirms that the boat was moving at speed when it was hit by a single large wave that made him turn “instantly”.
The extraordinary movie of the wave and its consequences was shot by the Dutch woman Eva Jongbloed, first to show friends how wild the journey was and, after the boat turned upside down, to document the ordeal for investigators and insurance companies.
Jongbloed, who was with his nephew Daniela Faber on the boat, was shooting while the wave washed her in the ocean.

“I thought I was the only one who fell from the boat,” he says. “And I was thinking:” Oh shit, as they will make me take “… but then I turned around and saw that the entire boat was launched.”
This masthead showed the investigators of Nusa Penida, who at that point was public. They hadn’t seen him. The head of those investigators later promised to “take it into consideration” and “check with the captain of the boat and the crew”.

This masthead also offered to put the police in contact with the Americans and others for interviews. They still have to take it.
About half an hour, perhaps more, after the accident, another boat arrived to save the first load of survivors, but there is also a conjecture here.
The police say it was the other boat of Sea Dragon who had returned after radio communication from the affected crew. The Americans, however, say that the Sea Dragon 2 seemed not to have a working radio, an emergency lighthouse or even a security protocol. Passengers believe that their rescuers were in a private boat, passing by chance.
The tourist company, which helped survivors to hospital costs and the recovery of goods, did not comment, making the truth difficult to verify difficult.
The first group of saved survivors, now with rescue jackets, have been left in approximate surfing about 50 to 100 meters from Kelingking Beach and said to swim to the shore so that the boat could return to the scene and get the rest.
They expected to be encountered by ambulances and paramedics on the beach. Instead, they found only unaware rooms, swimmers and construction workers.
Even once the manufacturers had escorted them at the top of the imposing cliff using a semi-built lift, there was no help.
If there were radio communications, how could it be?
Most survivors suffered chemical burns and bruises of the blunt force. They also swallowed the tied sea water. The little Estonian girl spent days in intensive care.

It is not clear how Anna Blight is dead or if it could have been saved. While the passengers were not aware of his death until hours later, some, reflecting on the chain of events, now ask themselves if he could have been extracted from under the boat and given the RCP.
“(The crew) were clearly only young on a boat,” says Josie. “We will not know until there is an autopsy if there was a serious head injury (and she could not be saved).”
According to the Nusa Penida police, however, the family refused an autopsy.
The Americans plan to stay in Bali for the rest of their planned holidays. They don’t want the tragedy to define their memories of wonderful places and kind people.
“The reason why we wanted to make this interview is, we hope, from this experience, the Balinese companies that manage these tours will invest correctly safely.”
When this masthead visited the port of Sanur this week, the tragedy had not appeared to dent the appetite of tourists for the Nusa Penida boats. The frenetic season begins next month.
