Joe Joyce beaten by Filip Hrgovic in Manchester to leave his boxing in the future in doubt

On the Undercard, British heavy weights Delicious Orie has started his professional career with the victory over Milos Veletic.

Orie, 27, won 40-36 in points in the four-round meeting, sometimes showing glimpses of his promise, but he did not prove to be unable to support a blow to his opponent from Bosnia and Herzegovina to ensure a Knockout.

Orie won gold at the 2022 Commonwealth games in Birmingham and represented Great Britain at the Olympics last year in Paris.

Elsewhere, David Adeleye claimed the title of the British maximum weights with a controversial arrest by Jeamie Tshikeva.

Adeleye dropped Tshikeva – known as TKV – twice in the sixth round, with the second that brought referee Ron Kearney who aroused the fight.

But the replays seemed to show Adeleye fall TKV for the first time moments after Kearney called the fighters to break after a clinch.

“The referee said” pause “and took me,” Tshikeva said. “That’s what it is. I was boxing well, it was going well.”

Adeleye stressed that something similar happened to him in a defeat by Fabio Wardley in 2023, adding: “You know what they say, oscillate and round”.
