Jonathan Re: “I count my blessings that was only one foot” – Rea on Crash horror

Jonathan Rea claims to feel lucky that the injuries he suffered in a high -speed accident during the tests on the circuit of the island of Phillip in February were no longer serious.
The six -time Superbike world champion has been excluded from the APRI of the 2025 season at the Australian event and will also sit outside the second round of the championship of this weekend in Portimao in Portugal after having undergone more fractures in the left foot in the accident.
The Northern Ireland driver subsequently undergone successful surgery in Belfast and is continuing his healing at home.
“I have movies of the accident and it is horrible. What looked like a small crash, suddenly I felt like I struck a wall or something. My bike had collected impetus and I had started to launch into the air and fell and struck me my foot aggressively”, reflects the 37 -year -old in an interview with the BBC Sport Ni.
“If that had been a superior limb or a chest or worse, it matters my blessings that was only one foot but you are also very unfortunate because it is a nice margin.”
Rea explained that he suffered from remarkable pain in the first two weeks after the accident and also found that mentally demanding period.
“It was really painful in the first two weeks, I have three plates, six screws. It was also mentally hard.
“I went back to a sort of training regime, feeling good in myself, but unfortunately the fracture on the foot was much more complicated than I thought.
“Moved fractures, also a bid of the ligament, and with a load that brings part of your body, only needs time to heal, so I’m doing everything that is in my power to massage that healing process.”
