Kristian White will be sentenced for 95 -year -old manslaughter

“It is not actually any penalty … there is no place for them to have any role (for) this culprit,” said Hatfield.

An intensive order of corrections (ICO), which is a prison sentence served within the community, cannot be imposed for certain crimes, including manslaughter. The suspended phrases were abolished in the new South Wales in 2018.

‘I still feel horrible’

White, his police colleague and paramedics had responded to the call of a nurse from the loggia in the early hours of May 17, 2023 on a resident who entered the rooms of the other armed with two knives.

In a letter of excuses to the court and the family of Nowland, White said he had assumed full responsibility and was willing to accept the consequences for his actions in “that fateful morning”.

“I understand that my actions have been judged to be wrong and have caused serious damage, not only to Mrs. Nowland, but also to the emotional pain that it caused to others, and for this reason, I really sorry,” he said.

White said he understood that he would bring little comfort to Nowland’s relatives.

“I felt and I still felt horrible for what happened,” he said.

White, who was a senior agent, launched proceedings at the Commission for Industrial Relations in search of a revision of the decision of the Police Commissioner of the NSW Karen Webb to remove it from the strength.

The sons and grandchildren of Nowland read the declarations of impact of the victims to the court in February, in which they honored his decades of voluntary work and adventurous spirit and described his death as incomprehensible and inhuman. They should issue a statement after Friday’s judgment.
