Like the victory of Lottie Woad in Augusta, the innovative year that ended as the number one world started

Woad had returned to Scotland for Open of Women’s Open last year, which was held during the old course in St Andrews.

He had lost the cut at the Open and Evian championship of the United States, but came from FIFE in a lively streak for his fourth major.

Woad would be in the run throughout the week and the tenth place would end to win the Smyth Salver as the highest amateur, with another culminating point which is a 60 yard building in Eagle Two on the last par-start in the third round.

“This brought me back to the top 10 on the last day. It was a really interesting moment with the grandstand full of encouraging people,” he says.

“Then to the prize giving you being next to the winner, Lydia Ko. To see her lifting that trophy I motivate you.

“It was a perfect week. Home of Golf, First Open – I couldn’t have dreamed better.”

However, there was little time for the celebration. The Curtis Cup, which puts the best amateurs of Great Britain and Ireland against their American counterparts, was the following week.

The Americans were the favorites to win a fourth following title after the overpowering victories in the previous three editions of the two -year event.

But GB and I have been enhanced by having the victorious captain of the Solheim Cup of Europe Catriona Matthew as their leader.

And Woad, who grew up 40 minutes from the old Sunningdale route that hosted the event, contributed with 2½ points in a triumph with unwary of 10½ -9½.

At that point, Woad had risen to the top of the amateur charts, which earned her the Mark H McCormack medal. Ko won the three -stroke prize since its beginning in 2011, while Ireland Leona Maguire and the United States star increasing Rose Zhang are also three times recipients.

So what is 2025 for woad?

The word “P” is inevitable, even if Woad “will make that decision only when I arrive”.

The transformation of professionals would seem to be the next logical step and Woad is on an LPGA path that could help accelerate that process.

“You can get an LPGA card when you reach 20 points and are currently on 16,” he says. “I’m trying to get 20 points this year and then we will have a decision to make.

“If you cut an excellent excellent.

“I’m trying not to think about it too much. But if I play well I will get those points.”

The NCAAs are the peak of collegiate golf in the United States, they put against each other. Woad finished the second classified in the individual competition last year, while his university team was joined to 11th place.

In this season, Woad has published an impressive eight consecutive goals since September. But his teammate of the State of Florida, Mirabel Ting of Malaysian, nineteen, eclipsed him, winning six events from Last year’s Wewna to lead the individual rankings of the NCAA.

Jasmine Koo is also in a field that boasts 49 of the first 50 in the world. In the last 12 months, the number two player has been classified has obtained four wins and seven better goals.

And the sixteen year old Asterisk Talley is inclined again. He finished the joint eighth last year and continued to beat Woad in the singles at the Cup Cup while he also enjoyed a superb 2024.

However, Woad goes during the week knowing that he has conquered Augusta National before and will again have the women’s coach in England Steve Robinson on the bag.

“It will be nice, to have that familiarity,” he says. “I am really enthusiastic. It will be a fun week and I hope to be the first to defend the title.”
