Live rates: Trump insists on politics “is going really well” despite China’s samples on American assets at 125%

Trump says that tariff policy “is going very well”

The President of the United States Donald Trump insisted on the fact that his policy was “going really well” despite the samples in China on American assets at 125 % in a tit-per-tat response between the ongoing commercial war between the two major economies.

The tariff excursion of China, hitting Trump’s decision to increase the functions on Chinese assets to 145 %, will come into force today.

“When people understand what we are doing, I think the dollar will go up,” he told journalists, minimizing the turbulence of the market. “The bond market is going well. It had a small moment but I solved that problem very quickly.”

China “will fight until the end” in commercial war with us

Beijing promised to “fight until the end” in a growing commercial war with the United States.

By announcing that it would raise the rates on US assets to 125 %, a Chinese finance minister said that the repeated increase in the Trump administration at rates “will become a joke in the history of the world economy”.

“However, if the United States insist on continuing to substantially violate the interests of China, China will oppose and fight until the end,” added the spokesperson.

The United States raised rates on Chinese goods at 145 % and the previous spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that Beijing would ignore any further increases.

“Since US exports to China are already commercially not vital to current tariff levels, any further US tariff increase on Chinese goods will be simply ignored,” said Lin Jian.
