Masters 2025: Completing your career Grand Slam will help me play with more freedom ‘ – Mcilroy

Mcilroy came out at the top after a dramatic last day that saw him grouped from the lack of a Putt who would get the victory on the 18th to beat Rose in a sudden play-off of death.
“When I hit the ball in the water on the 13th I took a look at the scoreboard and I saw that I was tied for the advantage at that point and then I saw Justin Rose had just made a bird to go to 11 (below).
“I thought, okay, I still have 14 and 15 that are perhaps holes for birds but then I have Bogey 14 and suddenly my back is really against the wall.
“I pulled out an excellent shot when I needed it on the 15th and from there I played a little truly exceptional golf and I had the opportunity to do the job to do the job and I was unable to take it.
Mcilroy further reflected on the pressure he hears was raised by the shoulders after the frustration of several missed opportunities to guarantee the famous green jacket assigned to the Masters winner.
“I come here for 17 years, I had my first real possibility of winning this 14 years ago. It didn’t happen that day and then in the last 10 years I came here and I tried to complete the Grand Slam.
“Every year I came here there was a lot around this week for obvious reasons. A few years I managed it well, a few years I did not, but luckily, finally, I was able to overcome the line.
“There have been some low points. Driving from Magnolia Lane on Sunday evening and it is not happening, so finally doing the job this year is incredibly satisfactory, such a special moment.”
