Masters 2025 Round 2: Bryson Dechambeau Surges, Justin Rose is strong and more

Two completely funny days of the Golf are in the books of Augusta National, where a windy afternoon made the most difficult score conditions while the day progressed.

These are the best numbers and notes of the 89th Masters Tournament Round 2.

1. A day after a brilliant 65, Justin Rose brought a round more similar to a 71 worker to take an advantage of a blow on the weekend to the Masters. Rose employed a conservative approach to his tee shots in the round 2, hitting the driver out of the shirt only five times – half of what he did in the round 1. Analytically speaking, he gave his fruits, given that Rose gained about two other shots today outside the Toe that in his opening round.

The most responsible club of Rose’s position is his putter. From 2019 to 2024, Rose was one of the three qualified players for average a complete blow or more on vegetables for rounds to the Masters. This week he threw that overdrive tendency, gaining more than seven shots that have crossed 36 holes. It is not just the best in the field, it is almost double what any other player has matured.

2. This is the tenth Round Round Rose has guided or guided, double any other player without a victory in history. At 44, Rose is the oldest player who leads the Masters after the second round since Raymond Floyd has led from a stroke in 1990.

If he had won, Rose would have established Masters Records for the oldest winner for the first time and most start (20) before earning a first green jacket. He would also win his second great 12 years after his first (2013 US Open), the longest gap in the history of modern male golf.

3. Only in second place is Bryson Dechambeau, who made only a Bogey in his second round of 68 From 2016 to 2024, Bryson was a 22-Over-Par-Papa-Par-Pari combined on three, four and five holes at Augusta National-the second period of any player in that arch of that arch of that arch of that arch of the arch of that arch of that arch

Although he leads the driving distance tournament for two days, the skilled touch of Dechambeau is due to the credit share of the lion. He ranks first on the field this week with blows earned around the greenery, with more than three shots coming in the round of Friday.

This is the fourth time that Dechambeau has started a great championship with round back-to-back in the 1960s. In the other three majors – 2020 US Open, 2024 PGA and 2024 US Open – ended first, second and first.

4. Twenty -four hours later it seemed that Rory Mcilroy’s dreams to complete the Grand Slam in 2025 had been swept away, on a Friday 66 he jumped him in the dispute entering the weekend. It is the sixth time in Mcilroy’s career that shot 66 or lower in Augusta National, linked for the second more in the round in the history of the tournaments. The first four holes of the second nine of Mcilroy transformed a promising return to a firefighted office. Rory recorded tens of 3-3-3-3 on 10, 11, 12 and 13th Friday. It is only the second time in the last forty years in which a player has made four three to those holes in a round of Masters – Hideki Matsuyama also did it ten years ago in the final round.

Rory’s iron game was fantastic on Friday. He hit 14 out of 18 green in regulation and earned almost three and a half shots with his approaching game, his most in a single master’s round in ten years.

5. With the wind that collected in the afternoon, the first half of the draw had a clear advantage of Friday. None of the eight players shooting at 68 or rather Friday came from the second half of Tee’s time. During two days, the players who came out in advance had an average total score at 36 holes of 146.7, about a stroke higher than their competition companions on the other side of the draw.

A remarkable part of the subsequent wave on Friday was the defense champion Scottie Scheffler, who linked a master with five trolleys. Scheffler was not so acute on the green in the round 2 as it was in the first round, losing about a stroke on the field. Despite this-and the fact that Scheffler is classified outside the top 30 to two rounds in both shots earned by the Tee and the world number 1 approach is firmly in question to win a third green jacket.

Before the winds increased, Scheffler was unstoppable. He played the first 23 holes without a Bogey, a better staff in a tournament that is mainly dominated by his debut. His presence as a plot this week seems inevitable: his weekend marking the average of 70.7 at the Masters is in a tie for the best of all time among the players with five or more cuts.

6. Corey Conneurs is linked to third place, its best 36 -hole position in a major since she shared the command after two rounds at the PGA 2023 in Oak Hill. Conneurs showed his exceptional iron game on Friday, collecting more than two shots on the field with his approach shots. He hit 16 green in regulations, a maximum career in any master’s round and he tied most of them on the field in the round 2.

Shane Lowry started this master with a par for round back-to-back, a first one in his skilled career. Lowry was one of the only six players on the field on Friday with two or more shots they acquired an approach and at least a complete blow earned on the Greens. This is the second time that Lowry is among the first five to 36 holes by Augusta National. In 2022, he was linked for the second, five shots behind Scheffler, before ending up in the balance for third place.

7. Among the trio sitting four outside the command is Jason Day, who made his lonely Bogey this week on the 18th hole on Friday. The day almost became the second player in the history of the masters to play the first two rounds without Bogey. In 1979, and Sneed went without a defect in his scorecard for the first two days. Sneed would have lost an advantage of three shots with three holes to play, opening the door to the victory of the Fuzzy Zoeller playoffs.

Despite the closure with the back-to-back trolleys, Viktor Hovland is also among the group of four under. Hovland was brilliant with his iron game on Friday, earning more than three shots with his approach shots. Only three players on the field have made more birds than Hovland (11) through two rounds this week.

8. Thursday, Nick Dunlap became the first player outside the senior division (over the age of 50) to load a score of 90 or worse to the Masters in almost 70 years. His brutal first day, however, opened the opportunity to face a dark trend reversal record in Augusta National. The greatest improvement from the first round to the second round in the history of Masters belongs to Craig Wood, who in 1936 began the week with dozens of 88-67.

Dunlap did not beat the record, but on Friday he shot a 71, remarkable in the shade of his experience in the opening round. The 19-stroke improvement is the largest from Round 1 to Round 2 in any greater male from the 1966 Open Championship in Muirfield, when Robin Davenport went 94-72. From the first master of 1934, it is only the fifth time that a player shot at 19 or more shots in the round 2 compared to the round 1.

9. Bernhard Langer, who has long announced that this would be his last master as a competitor, has almost beaten the record for the greatest player to cut. Langer, 67 years old, lost a Putt equal to 11 feet at 18 who would have kept him inside the line to play the weekend.

Twice Masters champion, Langer has guided all the players in both shots have obtained a total for round and the cumulative score on par in Augusta National from 1986 to 1993. Only eight players in the history of tournaments have multiple official strokes of all time of Langer, which was introduced in the Hall of Fame of the Golf more than two decades ago.

Fred Couples, 65, shot a second round 77, missing the cut of two shots. Thursday, couples became the second oldest player to break in a Masters round.

10. Thirty -one of the last 34 Masters winners have been four shots from the command that entered the third round. Since the victory of Magic 1986 of Nicklaus (was linked for the 17th), all the Masters samples except one were among the top ten to 36 holes (Charl Schwartzel, T-12 in 2011).

The largest 36 hole deficit exceeded to win the Masters is eight Jack Burke Jr. in 1956.
