Masters 2025: Scottie Scheffler in the national defense of Augusta, dinner and hay fever

The number one world is, of course, the favorite of wearing the green jacket again on Sunday. If he does, he will only become the fourth player after Jack Nicklaus (1965-66), Sir Nick Faldo (1989-1990) and Tiger Woods (2001-2002) to win later titles.

The champion Nicklaus to win three in four years, after claiming his first title in 2022, would also be six times recorded. Not that Scheffler seems too annoyed by the creation of his history.

“I don’t focus much on that stuff,” he said.

“I focus a lot on the preparation and I prepare myself to play. I try to have a good attitude and get closer to the blows in the right way. And that’s what I call success.

“When I pass the first tee on Thursday, I remember having done what I had to do to play well, and it is about going out and competing.

“I really try not to look too much in the past. I try not to look too far in the future. I just like to stay in the present and go only one week at a time.”

And after a slow beginning of the year, Scheffler feels as if he were hitting the shape at the right time, with a great month coming for the next four months.

He finished the second classified in Houston two weeks ago after climbing the ranking with a 63 of seven under-pars in the final round.

“This year, leaving an accident, it was certainly a different feeling from that in recent years,” he said.

“But this is definitely prepared as I felt in any event this year and I am excited to make the tournament go.”
