Matildas against Korea Live: Friendly International, Scores, Comment

The Matilda passed a lively South-and a little friendly fire-in-flick fire-and to complete a cleaning of their series of two-games international friendlies with a triumph for 2-0 in Newcastle on Monday evening.

A crowd of the bumper of 28,019 was amazed in silence in the 33rd minute when the Australian defender Alanna Kennedy and the midfielder Tameka Yallop shocked his head in a high -speed collision.

It was the sixteenth goal of the 22 -year -old for his country and without doubt he would have impressed the skipper Sam Kerr, who was looking at the tribune while waiting to return from a knee reconstruction.

Fowler’s boyfriend, the superstar of the rugby League Nathan Cleary, showed off a radiant smile between the crowd.

The lively Holly McNamara got in some promising positions in the first exchanges and the Korean striker Ji so-yun was strictly out of the target with a shot to the ninth minute.

Caitlin Foord’s experience came to McNamara after the interval, replacing it to the point of the attack.

Foord wasted no time to be involved and delivered a smart passage to the 57th minute in which Yallop jumped into the hands of the Korean goalkeeper Kim Min-Jeong.

Kennedy was replaced in the 60th minute in the end

Five minutes later, Fowler put himself in a cross in Foord, who had three cracks on goal, one of which bounced from the crossbar.

In the end, the ball was appropriately checked for Kaitlyn Torpey, who buried her.

The game could be the last of Tom Sermanni as Matilda coach.

Appointed at the end of last year on a provisional basis, its replacement should soon be named. If it was his Swansong, the Matilda have at least sent a positive note.

“I was really very happy with the performance tonight,” said Sermanni.

“I thought that sometimes we played a truly incisive and dynamic football, especially in the second half.

“I would have liked to have scored another goal, to make it simpler, but outside of this, I thought that we had kept the ball well and we made a lot of good decisions in possession … Overall, I thought that the performance tonight – considering that we were backup from three or four days before, was excellent.”
