Mo Salah and Virgil Van Dijk: Liverpool players seem ready to sign new business

Van Dijk’s re-function would facilitate one of the main recruitment problems overlooking the club in the summer.

If the 33 -year -old had left, Liverpool could have entered the market for a new initial central defender.

The recruitment staff had already started identifying potential objectives, which are mainly on the left or have experience in playing the central defender on the left side.

The captain of the Crystal Palace Marc Guehi was among those analyzed, but the extent of the interest was not clear. Bournemouth’s dean Huijsen has also been seen.

The plan they put together could never be performed, although Van Dijk’s central defense partner, Ibrahima Konate, is entering the last 12 months of his contract, so Liverpool may have to make a decision on his future if an agreement is not reached before the new season.

It also remains to be seen if Jarell Quanta and Joe Gomez remain on the Merseyside.

However, Van Dijk’s continuous presence relieves the need for Liverpool to sign an elite – and therefore expensive – central defender this summer.

The advantage of retaining Salah is equally clear. With seven games to play, the 32 -year -old has already given 54 contributions for the goal – scoring 32 times – this season.

Before the news of the turning point in the talks of Salah with Liverpool, sources close to the Pro Saudi League had strong hopes to attract the Egyptian.

With Liverpool that maintained their finances largely intact last summer, it is expected that they will be active once the market reopens – with a central striker at the top of their priorities.

As in the case of most European elite clubs, the Newcastle striker Alexander Isak would be at the top of their list, but the perspective that has left St James’ Park is unlikely.

It is also expected that Liverpool will be on the market for at least a new full-back given the interviews of Alexander-Arnold and the doubts about Andy Robertson’s long-term role in the slot team.

Bournemouth Milos Kerkez and Fulham’s Antonee Robinson are among the players with whom they were connected.
