Nations League: Rachel Rowe of Wales returns to face Denmark and Sweden

Wilkinson’s team opened their Nations League campaign with a 1-0 defeat in Italy in Monza, but got an impressive 1-1 draw with Sweden – who ranked fifth in the world by Fifa – in Wrexham four days later to earn their first point of the group.
Wilkinson has appointed an expert team with only two unused players – Tianna Teisar of Bristol City and Blackburn Rovers Poppy Soper – involved.
The former Canadian International says that Rowe’s return will help to ensure that Wales maintain good standards.
“Rowey is a senior international who gave everything to his country,” he said.
“He had a setback for an injury, but to get it back and to bring that trust, something with which the players connect.
“With her at the helm, everyone will give everything they have, or they will hear about it. You shouldn’t have anything at the end to play for your country and she embodies it.”
Mared Griffiths and Scarlett Hill have been left out of the team as they will be involved with the Wales Under 19 team for the Euro Round 2 League A.
Chelsea Sophie English midfielder remains put aside because of injuries, but will visit the Wales field.
Wales last faced Denmark in October 2023, losing 2-1 under Gemma Grainger.
They travel to Denmark for their last game of Nations League on May 30 before hosting Italy at the Swansea.com stadium on June 3 before their wedding campaign for the wedding euro, which takes place in Switzerland in July.
Wilkinson believes that the level of competition remains the ideal preparation for Euro 2025 where Wales will face France, the Netherlands and England.
“We know when we get these opportunities we have to count them,” said Wilkinson.
“By playing these teams we will not have many possibilities, we must be clinical and make sure that our possession is in the most dangerous areas.
“We have to be the best version of ourselves.”
