New giants to QB Russell Wilson: “I expect the appetizer”

Russell Wilson’s agreement with the New York Giants is official and the Veterano Quarterback has left no doubts about how he sees his role with the team.
“I expect to be the appetizer and to be able to come here and Rock and roll every day,” said Wilson during a meeting with the members of the media on Wednesday. “I think this team is really looking for someone who guides them in every way. In terms of process, in low season, during the season, our habits and our thought process and the way we create a great winning culture. How we continue to establish it and really build on things we do well and the things we continue to have to do.”

Wilson has signed a one -year agreement with New York For a value of $ 21 million, with $ 10.5 million guaranteed money, according to a source of the championship. The giants are Wilson’s third team in as many seasons following a one -year stop with the Pittsburgh Steelers and a two -year period with the Denver Broncos. He spent the first 10 years of his career in the NFL with Seahawk of Seattle.
Wilson joins a redfat quarterback room that also includes companions Jameis Winston veteran signalwho signed a two -year agreement last week. The giants hold choice n. 3 In the draft of the NFL next month and could select a quarterback perspective at that point or choose one in a next round. If this happens, Wilson is ready to serve as a mentor while focusing on obtaining victories for New York.
“If we draw a quarterback, we will make sure it does everything possible to be ready to be prepared with its mentality,” said Wilson. “For me, this is the victory process. What I can do as a quarterback of the giants to help us win and do everything possible to drive. … Being inside those white lines, this is my favorite place. I am enthusiastic to do it and shake the New York Giants shirt.”
The addition of Wilson offers coach Brian Daboll and to the general manager Joe Schoen a quarterback that can help the team win now while the duo enters his fourth season on the hot place. Last year, the giants finished near the bottom of the League in attack (28 °), total offense (30 °) and points marked (31 °). The wardrobe is not naked for Wilson in terms of objectives, with the second year width receiver Malik Nabers who had a 109 catch of 1.204 yard. The team signed a large receiver Darius Slayon at a three -year agreement. The second year of running Tyrone Tracy Jr. led the team to the pipeline and showed many promises in his beginner year.
Despite the giants who came out a season 3-14, Wilson sees a lot in which to believe with his new team to think that we can have a quick turnaround.
“I look at the talent and the boys who do shows. It’s a huge thing,” said Wilson. “Secondly, I think Daboll is a terrible football coach. It’s funny as people sometimes forget how difficult a coach is. (He) has just won the coach of the year not long ago (in 2022).
“I also love the disadvantaged mentality too
“… we do not focus on (the final goal right now. We are focused on the process. I am only enjoying today, you know, today’s opportunity to be a giant in New York. We will be able to work with these guys. We will have a lot of fun and really, really every day of being our best – especially starting from myself. Let’s start with myself. Just wanting for me every day for this team.”
Wilson, who turns 37 in November, entertained the interest of the giants out of season but signed a one -year agreement with the Steelers following his release from the Broncos. He lost the first five games of the season with a calf injury, did not play in week 6, so he replaced Justin Fields as an appetizer in week 7. Wilson brought Pittsburgh to a 6-5 record in the last 11 games.
Wilson won six of his first seven departures with Pittsburgh – publishing an evaluation of 103.9 passers -by with 12 touchdown and three interceptions. Things made a turning point in the last month of the season when Wilson and the Steelers dropped four direct in the post-installation, losing control of the FC North and ending up for a Jolly team as seed n. 6 (where Pittsburgh lost against Baltimore Ravens). For the season, he launched 2,482 Yard, 16 touchdown, five interceptions, recorded a percentage of completion of 63.7 and was selected for the Pro Bowl.
The addition of veteran help to quarterback was a priority for New York in this low season. The giants were interested in Matthew Stafford before choosing To return to the Los Angeles Rams. The team also showed interest for the four times MVP NFL Aaron Rodgers, who visited the Steelers last weekAnd it remains a free agent.
Wilson was asked whether to be seen as a backup plan for a Rodgers search annoyed him given his success curriculum: a Super Bowl title (which he won in his new Metlife Stadium house), 10 apparitions of Pro Bowl, 46,135 passage, 350 Touchdown steps and 121 victories in the regular season (most of the QB currently under contract for 2025 years)
“First of all, Aaron Rodgers is a great football player. He did extraordinary things in this championship,” said Wilson. “I was lucky to be able to do even great things. In reality what I concentrate on is at this moment, and what we can do here. This has been my goal since I signed. Obviously, Pittsburgh has been a special and special place for me. Pittsburgh has brought me so much love. I have so many teammates with whom I am very close. Guys like TJ (Watt) and Cam (Hey, Eyward).
“… coming here, being in New York, is an exciting place to play. It is a place that wants to win and has previously won. For me, it is bringing everything I know, all the experiences, all the touchdown, all the victories, but also all the love to go to do every day.
