Nguyen: “Tush pushes” lives to fight another day, that’s why it should remain forever

The NFL owners decided on Tuesday at the League’s annual meetings to push the fate of “Tush Push” to a subsequent appointment. From Tableing a vote Until May if prohibiting the much debated quarterback sequence perfected by Philadelphia Eagles, the comedy remains alive and, despite the objectives by some corners of the League, there is a good discussion to keep it like this.
Tush’s push has been revised every offseason since 2022 when the Eagles, who call it a fraternal thrust, have started to use it, but this year is the first in which a team (the packers) proposed to ban or limit it. The president of Packers Mark Murphy wrote on the team’s website, “it’s bad for the game”.
But the creation of rules or the ban on the game should not happen based on arbitrary opinions. Bills’ head of the coach and the member of the Committee for competition Sean McDermott mentioned security reasons. However, when you look at all the reasons invented for a Push rule of Tush, it seems that the League wants to create a discriminatory law that aims at Eagles, who are only better at performing the game compared to other teams they have tried.
What exactly is the “push tush”?
The eagles come out in a specific formation that essentially announces that they will attempt Tush’s push. Their offensive watches close their divisions and two players align themselves behind the quarterback on each side of him to push him from behind. When the quarterback takes the ball, each clock shoots as low as possible, and the quarterback is loaded forward or moves slightly in one direction, while it is pushed from behind.
In 2006, the NFL changed the rule for assistance to the runner. It became legal to push the ball carrier but it was illegal to pull them or lift them. The call was extremely rare before changing the rule and, ultimately, it was too difficult to legislate on the field. Second Soccer zebrasThe last time he was called the runner was called in a divisional playoff game between Chiefs and Bills in 1991.
Making illegal to push the runner again could be the way in which the binds at the end prohibits the game. Interestingly, the Bills are among the most effective quarterback teams in the League. They use their version of Tush push with a full -back who pushes on Josh Allen. When asked about their version, McDermott said he wouldn’t define their run as a push by Tush.
“We do it a little different from other teams”, McDermott told Espn. “A team, in particular, that does it in a certain way, is what it really is … there is so much strength behind that player, but yes, try to keep … Do not try, do the number 1 always everything we do, the foundations, what we teach the technique, in this case, what we ask our players to do, health and security n. 1.”

Some defenses contrasted by pushing the defenders on the back of the first line of defense. Should the League also start penalizing the defense to help the attacker?
McDermott said that there is so much behind a player, even if his quarterback is pushed, which suggests that he might want to get rid of one of the drug dealers in the preview of the eagles. However, the championship should establish a rule that applies specifically to only the quarterback because the reason why they changed the rule first is that it is too difficult to legislate when a fray was created during the gangs. But if McDermott wants to limit the eagles while maintaining its legal version, the perspective might seem unintended.
No skills involved?
“There is no skill involved and it is almost a first automatic down in the comedies of a courtyard or not,” Murphy wrote.
If no skills are involved in Tush’s push, why are the eagles better in execution than other teams? According to next generation statistics, from 2022, in the regular season and in the playoffs, the success rate of the Eagles that manages the game is 84 percent. The rest of the League is 73 percent in the same arch.
Richie Gray, a rugby consultant that the Eagles led to discuss the game, said that the Eagles are better to manage it for several reasons. The Eagles have Jeff Stoutland, who is widely considered the best offensive coach in the championship. The team invests heavily in its offensive line and has one of the most physical units in the championship and one of the strongest quarterback. They also invest more time to improve it.
Matt Lafleur says that Tush’s push is not a “big football game. It is more a rugby game”. It also has safety problems.

“The Eagles train it and have perfected it tactically and technically, and have dedicated a lot of time to improve it”, Gray told Sky Sports. “Any team can do it. The giants tried it a couple of weeks ago and a couple of boys were injured, but I heard through the vine that would always manage it during the Walk-Through.”
While Gray’s joke on the giants is simply an unconfirmed voice, it is clear that the Eagles have invested a lot in terms of time of staff, research and practice, which gives them an advantage – one that has been earned, not unjustly given to them. Is it right to create a rule to remove something in which they engaged resources while others have chosen not to do it?
Is it dangerous?
Murphy, McDermott and coaches throughout the championship have mentioned security problems to want to talk about banning Tush’s push, but at this moment there are no data showing that it is more dangerous than any other game.
“I worry about the health and safety of the players”, McDermott said. “The data is at this point a small champion and for me, there is not much that derives from it for how much goes. And I just think we have to do the right thing for players and their health and security. I don’t want to see someone get hurt … really not. And certainly, this has not yet happened at this point. But this is my concern more than anything else.”
Much of the concern by accident is more hypothetical but you cannot create a rule based on what you think can happen. Last season, the championship prohibited the Escata Dro equipment based on the data of a small size of the sample (about a hip -game drug plate for game). If the players begin to get hurt at a disproportionate rhythm on Tush’s push games, then a ban should be taken into consideration, but the fact is that there are no data in support of security problems.
In the meantime, the fans have complained that the game does not seem football and is ugly. I would say that making the ball advance is football. If they argue that Tush’s push is not football, then we should consider banning on their knees, peaks and kicks.
No, it is not the cutest game, but the “guard experience” for a regular immersion or a dip in the full back is the same. Not all games should be spectacular, some are just necessary parts of the game and the tools that the teams use.
Where it should be legislated
If the NFL decides to ban it, will it prohibit training? Will they make illegal to push the runner specifically on sneaks? Will they only eliminate one of the drug dealers?
There are no data or bases to implement these rules. Where the NFL can break down is the offensive watches in line in the neutral area on the push of Tush.
I don’t think Tush’s push should be prohibited, they only have to make the referees do their job and apply illegal formations.
The offensive clock should not have 2 iarde of grace in which they can take sides.

The offensive watches of Eagles align closest to the defensive line and the defensive voyeurs approach. Officials must be more diligent in ensuring that this does not happen.
In addition, Tush’s push is a completely legal game without data to demonstrate that it is more dangerous than any other football game. Bandalo because the Eagles manage it 11 % better than the rest of the League after committing time and resources to perform it well is unfair, above all because every other team in the championship has the opportunity to invest in the same areas. Punish the eagles for having done something better than the rest of the League by establishing a bad precedent.
