Novak Djokovic reaches the Miami Open final to close the hundredth career title

Novak Djokovic has passed Grigor Dimitrov to reach his first Miami Open final since 2016 and move within a victory of his hundredth ATP title in his career.

Dimitrov of Bulgaria broke Djokovic in the opening match, but the Serbian, supervised by his British coach Andy Murray, broke.

The number five in the world Djokovic, 37, has pulled out five consecutive games to win the first set.

Dimitrov made a rough start to the second set and the Grand Slam champion 24 times took advantage of progress 6-2 6-3.

“It’s fantastic (reach the final) without making a set fall,” Djokovic said to Sky Sports.

“I feel good as the Olympics last year.”

Things started well in windy conditions for the 14th seed Dimitrov, 33 years old, in the oldest Masters ATP 1,000 semifinals in history.

He won the first game at the service of Djokovic, but he was unable to capitalize and the class Serbian took his step and went to the first set,

After a fan was expelled after saying something to annoy Dimitrov, the Bulgarian started slowly on the second set.

Dimitrov, beaten finalist from last year, won three of his service games, but Djokovic was too good.

The six -time champion of Miami Open made only five unformed errors for the 32 of his opponent.

“There were a couple of close games in the last part of the game,” said Djokovic.

“They were 4-2, 30-30 and lost a couple of law and then I found some really good services with new balls in the last game.

“These were difficult conditions. Very Swirly. The wind was not consistent, changing much. It is not easy to find control of the ball.

“I tried to make him play in these conditions because he is a clean beating. I knew he would fight if I had made him play more. He fought with the first service more than me.”

The fourth seed, at 37 years old and 10 months, is the oldest ATP finalist ever, having also been the oldest semifinalist.

He will face the Czech not sitting Jakub Messik or the American Taylor Fritz in the final on Sunday. They play the semifinal later on Friday.

Among the spectators was Argentina who kicked the great Lionel Messi, who plays for Inter Miami.
