Omer Riza: Boss says “nervous” but confident of survival

Riza became a manager in discouraged circumstances, initially on an intermediate basis after Erol Bulut was fired last September after the start of Cardiff’s worst start for a championship season in their history.
A former Watford coach whose only previous managerial experience of the Football League League was a short and successful without success at Leyton Orient, Riza supervised a significant initial improvement and in the end a contract was delivered last December to make it Boss Cardiff until the end of this season.
Given how long and drawn those talks, former players and fans were critical of the owner of the club Vincent Tan, President Mehmet Dalman and CEO Ken Choo for the lack of clarity on the future of Riza.
Since then, supporters have taken the street to protest for the club’s race by the Council, but Riza, it is not surprising that they defended her employers.
“All the conversations that I had with the Board of Directors, whether it is Vincent Tan, Ken or Mehmet, the attention is paid to us to do the job and to put the club of good light,” he said.
To the question about the managerial instability of the club and on the perceived lack of long -term planning, Riza added: “A little stability is the key to a club, knowing that there is a plan there that can really be examined and people can see” this could happen “and think” there is a plan in progress “, whether it is a style of play or a type of player.
“That kind of things could be improved by going forward, in terms of attempt to improve the club”.
Although the team performances were better than they were during the sad first weeks of the season under bulut, Cardiff never freed himself from the three lower.
Riza was close to becoming the 14th Bluebirds manager starting from Tan, just to be saved from the victory of last month at Blackburn Rovers.
However, a disappointing draw at home in Sheffield last Wednesday last weekend increased the pressure again.
On Saturday Cardiff goes to 15th place in Queens Park Rangers-Che have collected only one point in the last five games-Prima to visit Preston Tuesday.
“We have a game coming this weekend and that’s what we have to win,” said Riza.
“QPR, if they lose Saturday, are two points from us. Our goal is to collect points to stay out of the three lower.
“Of course it is essential that we remain awake. Of course I want to stay here, it is a huge club and I loved every minute here. But we have to look at what it is in hand and this is to survive.”
