Oscar Piastri wins the Grand Prix Bahrain by pole

Oscar Plastri led from the beginning to the end to win the Bahrain Grand Prix Sunday and get his second victory of the Formula 1 season.

The Australian took a commander command for McLaren from the pole and did not look back, keeping the advantage despite the safety car at some point cutting his advantage of seven seconds to almost nothing.

Carlos Sainz’s Williams came into contact with Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda on the 32nd lap, the subsequent Go-Low driver, who donated George Russell the Mercedes the opportunity to close on Piatti.

But the Australian has maintained the courage to build an advantage of 15½ seconds to close the race in front of Russell, with Lando Norris by McLaren who crosses the third.

“It was an incredible weekend,” said Piastri after claiming McLaren’s first victory in Bahrain, home to the team owners of the team. “Finishing the job today with style was nice.”

The race saw a series of technical problems for all the main teams. Russell had to face electric problems on his car and was facing an investigation into his use of the DRS overtaking aid system. Russell said he opened when he pressed the button to use the radio.
