Patrick Matasis: Kenya Keeper suspended between the investigation on Match-Fixing
Kenya goalkeeper Patrick Matasi has been provisionally suspended by all football activities in the country for 90 days in the middle of an investigation into the accusations of manipulation of the match.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) made the decision on Thursday evening, hours after the announcement of the government body he had started an investigation in the 37 -year -old.
The case arose after a video published online appeared to show the custodian who agree on an agreement to influence the result of a game.
The BBC has not been able to verify the video, which is not dated.
Matasis plays for the premier league club Keniota Kakamega Homeboyz and has won over 30 international hats.
He did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
The owner of Kakamega Homeboyz, Cleophas Shimanyula, said that Matasis denied the accusations.
“He was shocked by what he was seeing in the video and he told me he doesn’t know he was turning on the games,” said Shimanyula at the BBC Sport Africa.
“Kakamega Homeboyz is against any form of manipulation of the game.”
The most recent apparition of matasi for Kenya arrived in a qualification of the 2025 Africa Cup against Cameroon last October.
Harambee’s stars have lost the game 4-1.
The FKF declared that he would work with the FIFA World Government organ, the Confederation of African football and other “relevant authorities” during his investigations.
