Premiership: Leicester Tigers 22-29 Saracens: Sarries Boost Top-Four Offer
The teenager Angus Hall marked a captivating attempt at his first premiership start while the Saracens rekindled the first four hopes with a fought victory in Leicester Tigers.
The nineteen year old collected the passage of Elliot Daly and accelerated to end up in the corner after the Saracens had remained behind for the first time in the game.
Jamie George and Juan Martin Gonzalez gave visitors an advantage of 14 points before the tigers fought to guide through Freddie Steward and a double -ray Hanro double on both sides of the interval.
But Hall’s effort brought the level of the Saracens and the replacement Theo Dan marked the decisive attempt by a host of Leicester, with the effort of Cameron Henderson for the controversial tigers for offside.
The victory of the Bonus point of the Saracens raises them to sixth place in the table, two points behind Leicester on the third.
Sarries, who started with a quartet of England, in an attempt to save their first four hopes, underwent an early arrest trip while Fraser Balmain was taken out in the opening minute.
But he did not stop the rhythm of visitors as they quickly opened an advantage of 14 points, moving the ball back and forth through the field inside Leicester’s 22 before George at the end broke out on the line.
George and Theo McFarland therefore made their way to the right and the Saracens reported the Infield ball for Gonzalez to browse through a considerable gap in the defense of the tigers, with Alex Lozowski who added the extras in both occasions.
A saved Tom Willis plate denied Solomone Kata shortly after, but a pounding wave of the tigers finally repaid when Ollie Hassell-Collins created Steward, who broke clearly to score under the places.
After Handre Pollard and Lozowski had exchanged Goal, it was Leicester who finished the first half on the rise and Liebenberg squeezed to reduce the two -point gap in the turnaround.
That momentum poured into the second half while the tigers shot the ball in depth in the territory of opposition and Liebenberg took advantage, crashing for his second attempt to put the home team ahead for the first time.
The protagonist was short -lived, however, with the rapid hands of the Saracens who allow Daly to release Hall and the young man showed a good technique to retain Adam Radwan’s challenge and decide right inside the corner flag.
The Saracens were affected by another stroke of injury when Lozowski was forced to leave for an hour – but again they replied, scoring, with Maro Itoje who made enough to stop the line so that Julian Montoya’s shot navigated through Dan to collect and finish.
The crowd of the house thought that their team had been leveling again immediately while Henderson loaded the football of Ivan Van Zyl from the fray and was unleashed – but the referee Luke Pearce judged the lock of Leicester and marked the attempt after a replay video.
