Qualifiers of the world cup as a female cricket: Scotland beat the western Indies in shock.


Scotland has stunned the western Indies with the victory of 11 races in their opening game of the qualifying of the women’s World Cup despite an Herculean performance of the Captain Obvious Hayley Matthews.

Matthews reduced Scotland to 69-3 by sixteenth, but the 55 of Sarah Bryce from 56 balls gave fresh impetus inning.

Megan McColl (45), Katherine Fraser (25 not outside) and Priyanaz Chatterji (15 off 10) helped Scotland to reach 244 all in 45 over.

Matthews took 4-56 with the ball in Lahore and then turned his attention to chase the total of Scotland.

He made one unbeaten 114 out of 113 balls despite being forced to retire twice with cramps and tiredness, once he removed on a stretcher before returning.

But the magnificent inning of the 27 -year -old were not enough to save the western Indies from a shock defeat as they were launched for 233 in 46.2 over.

The Scottish Fraser took three WICKETs while Chloe Abel and Abtaha Maqsood took two each.

Darcey Carter admitted only 10 points of four over and took Qiana Joseph’s WICKET for a duck in the second to leave Windies with an uphill task.

Only Matthews and Zaida James (45) have put together a significant partnership: their second position of 113 races put their part in a privileged position to wrap in the Scots.

However, Scotland gathered to claim two important points in the qualifying group stage.
