Review of the NSW police culture to focus on sexual harassment

The 12 -month review will be open to security officers and non -wooded employees, including those who have left the workforce in the last five years.

The results, recommendations and executive summary of the review will be made public, with the first reports due at the end of the year.

A commission for the conduct of the law enforcement of 2020 follows that found a “rooted culture of incorrect behavior, including sexual harassment, led by high officials and emulated by the Junior staff” in a police command and a revision of 2019 in the police promotions system with the then commissioner for the discrimination of sex Elizabeth Broderick who outlined a culture of the “boys club”.

Webb said that the review was his goal from his appointment. “It was time,” he said.

“Sometimes it is difficult because we have a hierarchical system. I think people sometimes fight with high officers in terms of what they provide,” he said.

Deputy Commissioner and Head of Corporate Services Dean Smith said it was time to “StockTake” on culture.

“As we can restore to make sure that the NSW police are a workforce in which people want to come and work,” he said.
