Sidney Crosby by Penguins breaks Wayne Gretzky’s NHL record with the 20th point for the season
Buffalo, NY – Sidney Crosby made history on Thursday in Buffalo.
The Penguins captain of Pittsburgh scored a goal at the sign of 11:11 of the first period, which was good for his 80th point of the season. Crosby, who can only play a maximum of 80 games of the regular season because he has lost two in February, has conquered a season from point for the game for the 20th time in his historic 20 -year career.

This interrupts a draw with Wayne Gretzky, giving Crosby the record for most of the consecutive seasons for point-to-game in the history of the NHL.
“I mean, nobody is not even nervous for this or anything else because it is not as if it won’t do it,” said Rickard Rakell, Crosby’s left wing for most of the season.
Where Crosby will rank in the list of the greatest NHL players will always be a subjective exercise, of course. There is no doubt, however, that it will go down as one of the most consistent great players in the history of the NHL.
Even at 37, he remains among the leaders of the League and the points and there has never been doubt that he would have scored this sign, even if the penguins have moved to the bottom of the NHL ranking throughout the season.
Crosby, legendary for his superstitions, has been hesitant to respond to the record in the last few days. At the beginning of this week in Tampa, a journalist asked Rakell. Crosby jokingly said to Rakell: “There is no need to answer this question, Raks”.
But now it can be discussed.
Crosby now has 1,676 points in his career NHL, leaving him 324 since 2000. He has been under contract for two other seasons, through the 2026-27 campaign. Crosby will be a few months after its 40th birthday when her contract expires, even if the possibility certainly remains that she will play behind that season.
“His consistency is simply incredible,” said Kris Letang, who played with Crosby in 19 of those 20 seasons. “Continue to go and go. And the way he keeps fit, I don’t think he will slow down soon.”
Crosby now has 17 points in its last 12 games and has more points than any NHL player from the break in front of the 4 nations in February.
