Southern Australia beat Queensland with four wickets to raise the title of Sheffield Shield

Sangha, suitably born in Sydney, entered sports folklore knows by marking the winning race, a year after it was told by the new South Wales that was no longer requested.

“I thought my career was over,” said the 25 -year -old.

“South of Australia gave me a second chance. I really have to, really. They saved my career.”

Carey and Sangha’s partnership followed the previous heroics of SA Paceman Brendan Doggett, who returned the absolute combination figures in a shield final, 11-140.

Born in Rockhampton, Queensland, Doggett won two shields with the Bulls and took the winning WICKET with his last ball for the state in the 2021 final.

“I was probably a little naive with my first two,” said Doggett.

“Just being young and being in a really strong part, probably I didn’t realize how difficult they were to win until the arrival here.”

Nathan McSweeney, born in Brisbane, who turned 26 years ago, has now led Sa Sa in Shield and one -day titles and Brisbane Heat at the BBL 2023/24 trophy.

McSweeney moved to SA for the 2021/22 season and felt the weight of the drought of the shield.

“When a long time has passed and you also feel a little external pressure, it makes it a little more beautiful,” he said

South Australians resisted an extraordinary fight from Queensland.

The bulls were reduced for 95 in their first inning, he knows he replied with 271 and Queensland was on the ropes for lunch on the third day: 6-221, only 45 races in front.

But centuries to Jack Wildermuth and Jack Clayton have given Bulls a chance.

“The spirit of Queensland lives so deep,” said the captain of the bulls Marnus larbuschagne.

“We continued to dig … and we almost found ourselves stealing the shield off the southern Australia.”
