The Canadian tennis star reveals the impact that changes the life of the battle of Cancer
AS Canadian tennis star Gabriela Dabrowski approaches the anniversary of one year of his diagnosis of cancer, the three -time Grand Slam champion revealed in a recent interview that the news that changes the life he received in the spring of 2024 has changed his vision of life for the better.
Dabrowowski, who won her for the first time Olympic medal In Paris a few months after the diagnosis of breast cancer, he revealed for the first time in an Instagram post on New Year’s Eve who, despite all the success he had seen that season, had kept secret.

He had observed a lump in his left breast for the first time during a “self-examination” in 2023, but was subsequently fired by another doctor. The following year, in the spring, a WTA doctor suggested to her to get another evaluation and, after a series of tests, a breast cancer was diagnosed with Dabrowski.

“I don’t regret what the doctor told me then (in 2023), because I am really happy with how my year proved to be, of what I learned, of what I experienced” He told Olympics.com last week. “It is a recognition that cancer is something truly messed up and can be very frightening.”
Unbeknownst to his fans, Dabrowski was subjected to care but remained on the field. He won two double titles, including the WTA Tour final, and gained his first Olympic medal for summer games. He also reached a new career in the double ranking, coming to n. 3.

For Dabrowski, his vision of life has changed after diagnosis. He said that “he trembles” cancer in understanding “what meant to be alive”.
“Cancer had to happen To me; Something had to shake me, and cancer did it, “he told Olympics.com.
“He shook me. It does not mean that before I was not grateful for my life, or for the people or experiences in the life I conduct. But it was something bigger, because it really shaken my core of what it meant to be alive, what meant practicing a sport to live.”

Dabrowski came forward with his journey with the hopes of bringing awareness to early detection and sharing of his history as a survivor.
“At the beginning of my diagnosis I was afraid that cancer would become part of my identity forever,” he wrote in his post since December. “I don’t feel like that anymore. It is a privilege to be able to call me survived.”
